For awhile now, I've been looking at getting a pistol.  Not for any 'self-defense' idea (no, I'm not the next George Zimmerman).  But I like target shooting with a good pistol.

Not just any pistol though.  A Browning Hi-Power Mk III 9mm pistol.  When in the Canadian Army I *loved* firing my Browning.  Wonderfully balanced, with a smooth action, tight recoil (with very little 'twist' in the grip) and awesomely accurate, the Browning was the best pistol I've ever fired.

Glock?  Well made, but dislike the balance.  Sig/Sauer?  They're good, but I *hate* the grip -- feels all wrong to me, and pushes the web between my thumb & fingers uncomfortably toward the slide.  And don't get me started on the POS pressed-metal crap churned out by S&W and Beretta. 

Nope, if I get a pistol it's going to be a Browning.  Unfortunately, it looks at though I'm not the only one that feels this way about Brownings:

... to attend the Reason Rally.  Maybe interesting, maybe not.  But in an era where a serious candidate for the nation's highest office can publicly call for a theocratic government, and a significant part of the voting population agrees with him and votes for him, we have to do something.  Dog knows letters to my state and federal politicians get nothing but bullshit responses, while religious superstition and nonsense make continuous inroads on governmental policy.  Maybe call this a 'last ditch' effort before I throw my hands up in disgust.

The latest budget proposal from Paul Ryan should solve that.  This is a MASSIVE redistribution of wealth UPwards.  Let's take all that FICA money deducted from everyone's paycheck (right down to the lowest paid hourly worker), cut the entitlement program, and then give it away in a tax cut to the wealthiest.  Are you fucking KIDDING me?

Miss. House defiant, passes "personhood" bill

Fucking 'personhood' again.  Trying to ascribe rights to a collection of cells that cannot exist independent of a human.  Like trying to call a cancerous tumor a 'person'.

What I find most revolting are the women supporters of this law.  Just how indoctrinated into their death-cults do they have to be to be actively working against their own rights?  Like African-Americans supporting Jim Crow laws.  Or log-cabin republicans, for that matter.

*sighs*  Humans are so fucked up.
